Monkeys…

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Johnny almost hit a monkey today, a monkey watched Creed pee, Mike Lange attempted to hunt and kill monkey….who is actually Rujano, the little Venezualen climber. Well that last part was a lye, but I do think that Lange is going to kill that guy on the climbs!
Well at least the water is better that Team Camp…

I hope Taylor is drinking his muscle milk, because by this picture it looks like he has been throwing up everything he says he eats?

Tour of Langkawi…

keep’n it safe here in Malaysia. Some AIDS campaign ad.

This race will be pretty crazy, I pray that I am able to hold on and perform. Wow as long as I can survive Stage 3, then I will be able to contest a few Sprint finishes? We got super lucky on the flight over, in which the plane was only half full and we were able to lay down in the open rows. EXCEPT for my row where this old bastard moved in to the end of my row just to sit and sleep. oh was so pissed, but I was at least able to put my feet up.

where have I been?

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Well after Creed and I laid 3 or 4 eggs in the Madison qualifier…which we did not qualify, we headed some where called Julien, CA just outside of San Diego.
IMG_1560.JPGIsn’t Kevin so happy. Katrina must miss that loving smile. IMG_1563.JPGTraining Felts anyone? What does that one top tube say about Creed? “Creed is a sick pimp”
IMG_1571.JPGAll our race wheels will be equipped with sweet wireless PowerTaps!
IMG_1572.JPGSo Kilian Patour what is your best pursuit…oh? 4.24, but I was only 19. WHAT? 4.24! So what is your best team pursuit…oh? 4.08. WHAT? Ya, this one time race in my state championships in France, in the team pursuit I was the only one that pulled and we caught the other team!
IMG_1626.JPGTeam kits in all there car stopping glory. But what is Taylor doing with his…..chamois?

Track Track Track…LA World Cup Scratch

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

I pretty much did it the hardest way possible. Group of 10 gets off the front about a half lap up, 2 riders chase them out of the group, then there is me firing off a hail mary to bridge. It is much MUCH easier to lap the field with nearly 10 guys as it is solo bridging to a small group, then lapping. On the rivet was I! I went for it at least. Everything and the kitchen sick seemed to being through at the fan….this was a mega-shit hitting the fan race (as was Creed’s Points Race). I somehow bridged to a very select group near the end of the race, only to make the wrong pull and the perfectly timed swing up, as the Argentinean Perez and the Polish rocket attacked our group. So I was instantly gapped, I gave it full throttle only to loose more positions then by the line I was overtaken like I was sitting still. Thankfully I had the one lap up on a few guys and came in 9th. Hopefully that gave USA a qualifying spot for Worlds?
Creed killed it in the points race, his 1st ever World Cup Points Race, and rode pretty swell as I see it. He rode on guts, went with attacks, bridged to attacks, and went for 1 or 2 solos, but alas he was pretty marked as he and David “Irish” O’loughlin lapped the field pretty handily in the qualifier. Once he and I get this World Cup racing figured out…look out!

old silver back himself…

Friday, January 19th, 2007

If you haven’t notice, but the old silver back of the American and Aussie racing scene is asserting his dominance once again. Karl Menzies is not human, he is a 100% pure blood silver back. I once saw Karl slap Tim Johnson and reprimand him for mixing his gatorade to weak…Tim cried. I once saw Karl laugh at the entire TIAA-Cref squad during a huge attacked at the Parker Stage…Ian MacGregor cried. I once saw Karl take a juniors water bottle only to use it to pee in…the juniors mom cried. I once saw Karl…you know what I have never seen Karl do these things, because he has usually has me in a head lock while performing all of these unkind acts…Mike Friedman cried.
Check out Karl’s destruction path on Cycling news in the Tour Down Under.

that just happen…

Track Track Track

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

Well it is nearly game time for my track legs, which seem to be on every other Euro dude flying around the velodrome while I limp? Track is such a humbling discipline, most roadies just do not understand how the track can make your legs turn inside out so fast in less than 1km. Tapering into this weekend has my mind spinning on what ifs and why my 86 inch gear (49×15) feels like a 100 (53×15ish). Supposedly there are 50 countries here with nearly 300 athletes to compete! Talk about insanity! Just think how crazy warm up will be, I think that I will not even be able to touch the track until my event starts. Not all 300 will be attempting to ride the track at the same time, but there will be a good number of them.

you know…

Monday, January 15th, 2007

Being on the road for so long really reeks havoc on a persons metal. Ya I might be posting some immature pictures or qoutes, but you know what…I DO NOT CARE! You would be quite similar if you found yourself stuck in a hotel room with some lame person like Hartley or Creed. Creed thinks he is so hot and manly…yes yes Creed I agree you could win a egg eating contest, but when it comes to maning up…you, you have got me there also. Fine I said it, Mike Creed is the BEST. But I know your cookie secrets, so you lock it up Creed!

why Mister Creed…

day of competition =day of waiting

Friday, January 12th, 2007

IMG_1516.JPGTrack is all about timeing and today had none of it, because everything was pretty much 3hrs behind schedule, which in turn totally screws with ones legs, mind, blood glucose levels, hydration, and overall ability to really perform on the track. 8hrs in the chamois but only about 2hrs of actual pedaling…training hard. I totally felt like poo all day and the off timing of everything did not help.

atleast the day ended well with a sweet set of “anti-friedman” tights
