Very thankful to have won Bronze at my second Track Worlds, but I ain’t content. I know that one creates their own possibilities with cycling, but also some luck can help those possibilities become a reality. I ain’t stopping here! I have faith that my possibilities are still possible.
What’d you say meow?

Not so fast…

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Made it to the final of the scratch race tonight, but was missing that extra bit of power to really make the race. So I held on for dear life, got gapped off when the accelerations came, used my super sonic thoughts of prayer to weld the pack to pull up track so I could get back on, then with 8 laps to go I watch Kam-Pow Wong from China (sorry and thanks Tosh) do the race winning move, so I attempted to give it a go since the pack swung up track shortly after, but 3 to go is a little long for a guy that had been barely holding on, so I was caught inside 2 to go, but I did miss a HUGE crash, then was nearly taken out as the pack sprinted past me, saved it, to be quickly spit out the back and finish almost last on the track….besides the 8 guys laying on the wood.
How do I feel about tonight? Well I do not need to answer that.
Thanks for keeping tabs on me and my suffering.
OH bye the way Sarah Hammer is a SUPER STAR! Congrats to Sarah and Andy for making it happen against all odds.

head over to www.usacycling.org
go to the track section, in the little window that poops up under the track logo, click on photos, and you will find some good shots.
Just don’t feel right putting up the photos that I will most likely steal from the site…well at least this time? OK maybe one…

This is the KILO and this is how I won my medal back! Geared up to 54×15, put my super sweet new Dura-Pedals on, attempted to tuck the mullet, and said either go big or go home…..actually I (after I found a cookie in my aero helmet) said…”I almost missed my moto and I had cake on my bars!” as I rushed to my KILO start.

that just happen!!!!

You actually can’t tell, but I am gritting my teeth, because….ah shit….would’a, could’a, should’a…story of my cycling career. But still not too shabby for shit legs, huh?

OH ya, I saw Jerry Murray of STL, MO just before the start of the KILO. Thanks to all my home country fans for cheering me on.

I followed Theo Bos’s line?

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

Well even if you follow the line taken by the best in the world it doesn’t mean that you will ride close to their time? In just a 50 meter flying sprint effort, Theo put about 1 second into me! Seriously, he was on pace for a 9.9….or at least that is what Des stated? I was more like 11.1 or slower?
Ya that guy is fast!
But I will go for it tomorrow in the Omnium? Ben Kirsten I am watching you!

Track World Championships count down…

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Competition starts up Thursday with me competing in the inaugural event the Omnium.
5 events in one day. Flying 200 Sprint for time, 5km Scratch Race, 3km Individual Pursuit, 15km Points Race, and finally the individual KILO. Hopefully I survive these and can ride as fast as I hope to? Then Friday I race in the Scratch Race with qualifying in the morning and the final in the evening. Who knows, if I can get my legs back under me from being sick most of the past 2 weeks, then???
Say a prayer for me, as I think I have said so many that I have hit my quota for the month in the past week? but I am going to say another!

Gone as fast as she came…

the beautiful Rachel….as seen on pezcyclingnews daily distractions…..has vanished as fast as she appeared. This was the only shot we were able to snap before her departure.
Other news, I think that my health is coming around and I just might be able to actually drag myself to the Track World Championships! With a little luck and a whole lot of suffering we shall see???

unbelievable times

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

So I thought that the worst had left once I departed from Belgium just a week ago, but for some reason I brought the plague with me. Now not only have I been sick with fever, chest congestion, slight sinus infection, and head-ache, but also my room-mate, my recently flown in beauty Rachel, and the other house of rider is under the weather also. Oh ya we are having unbelievable times here.
The way I see it, I will either be flying at Track Worlds after this mandatory rest period or well I do not want to even think about the alternative.
