what is the Buzz?

So I have been getting quite the fix at this local fixture formally known as Brewed Awakenings. I really love there style and flavor…especially the cute…cookies they make.
So things are going great I am really enjoying my time here in Milwaukee w/ my woman and the rest of her family. Really getting to hang out with her has been really great for the both of us. Living out of a suit case and a hotel is not always ideal for relationships as any other cyclist out there can tell you. This is actually the longest stint of time that I have been in a place that I can somewhat call home since last…thinking hard when the last time was? oh ya last October.
More buzz on the Huff front is that I am heading down to Venezuela to compete in the Continental Championships on the track and road. It is very strange to say, but I am starting my quest to achieve every athletes ultimate dream….making the Olympic Team. This is based on an overall UCI points standings for each country and rider, so after heading down to Sur de America gives me a shot at getting a head start.

Sports Illustrated????

I guess I have been put in the “faces in the crowd” section for the most recent edition of SI?
not too bad for a 2nd best fat kid from Missouri?
Next I am going to try and get in the SI Swim Suit issue!

Slow Brewed…

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

here in Milwaukee I am taking a few things from the Brew Town and attempting to slow brew myself back in to form. Meaning I am putting in the miles. Brewing back some type of form that I lost over the past few months. What this has reminded me is that I have lost so much aerobic ability that it is pitiful. I mean about every day I go out I get passed by the old women Russian women walking on the town path….well that is after they have kicked my front wheel out from underneath me. Those old lady’s don’t like me for some reason? No actually that did not happen, but I did somehow get them to SMILE at me which I have been informed that they never smile or acknowledge anyone! Guess I remind them of the supreme blonde hair blue eyes boys back home?
So I am slowly coming back to road form. Enjoying some great Milwaukee times. Hitting up a Big Danish Birthday party this weekend. Getting in some of my first USA races of the year at some local events, too bad that they watch me like a hawk when if they knew the truth they would just let me be and watch some other wielder that thinks he is fast….cause I ain’t right now.
other news: MIKE FRIEDMAN is making his return to racing after nearly half a year of medical problems…..keep your eyes open, because he is going to destroy everyone and every meatball hoagie in his path!

Green Light

Monday, April 16th, 2007

The team has given me the Green Light to return to USA.  Mainly because I have been riding/racing so poorly that I am no use to the European team…..!currently!, besides the occational comedy relief or cheap thrill to keep the spirit alive.

good friends…

here is some of the group that is stationed here in Gerona, Spain currently although Will Frischkorn, Peter Stetina, and Steven Cozza were absent.

Note the fact that this is a rare moment when one will actually catch Mike Creed with a smile, usually he only smiles after make young Peter Stetina cry. The two individuals just to my left in the picture is a lovely couple from Cali: Zack Zachowski and his wife Barbara Gabel. If you have ever been to Zachary’s Pizzaria in Cali, then maybe you have meet him or her? What was great was to see how much love they had for each other after 32 years, Zack actually commented that it feels more like 32 months. I guess when true love is found it is truly ageless. Oh ya he had a mullet when the first meet and it was in Milwaukee too!?!? Hmm?
Last note on a good friend: Kilian Patour has been chasing me around with sciossors for the past 3 months and he finally got me on a recent training ride in France. So the Mullet is not a flowing, but it is still alive….just a little trimmed. But I loved those sun bleached tips KiKi…

Here is KiKi taking another one for the team….Thank Will Frischkorn for the picture.

GP de la Ville de Rennes - 1.1

Monday, April 9th, 2007

ya…not so great.
My power just wasn’t there and just felt lactic at the slightest hint of a hill, acceleration, cross wind, or just about anything. So I was dropped at least 8 times before the feed zone, then just prior to the feed zone at 100km I was totally done. While at the same time our team rode amazingly, helping chase, following moves, and finishing strong in the main group. I am amazed at the overall power and ability of this team as a whole.
The plan was to race me in Circuit de la Sarthe, but after my dismal performance at Rennes I felt that the team was better off with a stronger rider in my place. Ya that was tough to swallow, but I know that I am just not there as of now.

Thank you sir may I have another.

So back to racing in France today, as I had to sit the bench this past friday for Route Adélie de Vitré, Fra (1.1). We shall see how it goes?
Congrats to Pat McCarty for scoring a great result for SlipStream.

It is time to really get my road legs working, as they have been pretty much out of commission for this early part of the season. I just pray that they work?
