what can I say that was one of my best cycling experiences in a long long time. I was amazed by the total amount of support from not just my friends and family, but by just about every single person that lived or happen to be along the route. I mean I have not seen more blue jean over all’s since I last looked in to my Grandfather Osward’s closet. where do I begin???
from beginning to end it was literally amazing how many friends I saw. Significant people who helped get me in to cycling, people I raced against in cycling, people I will always look up to in cycling and life. so here is a little list that will leave people and things out, but I will at least give it a go.
Dad, Mom, Sister, Brother, Aunt, Grandma, Ben Rosenthal, Tom Gourley, Charlie M., Larry Oreilly, Old Midwest Racers who kicked my ass for years, a FFA T-Shirt just outside of Stockton, Gary S., the Greek’s!, Kirk Bowman,Bill Marshal for helping to make me feel special and his loyal crew of great men…especially big Roche’ who sweet more than I did in that TT, guy who told me he was going to the 08 Olympics in BMX, asking Contador to get me two bottles, telling Popovych and Levi L. that I would like a snickers from the car, Karl Menzies and I hesitating all race…well until the last stage, Ashley B. party, Old Cycles Unlimited friends, Greg A. with new glasses, racing on old roads that I have trained on, Juilet@Professional Massage Training Center getting to see that I told her so!, yelling at dinner that anybody who wants can come with us to get Andy’s Frozen Custard or go with me to see my Grandma Huff who lives just a mile down the road?, BOCOMO Friend and well I guess Butthead too and the hilarious blow up doll that was for sure Josh’s that someone was doing some type of exercises with up a Columbia hill, having the full 17km loop in STL lined with Fan’s…especially that one crazy Frank Pipp fan,
Of course the I heart Brad T-Shirts and the hard core group of my friends that were allowed to sport them:Bud Jerred, Cale, Jim, Mike M., Shane “upper crust” Nelson, Byron, so many people out there were wishing that they were cool enough to have one….like Tim Johnson, but alas only the few the proud the oh shit they just ran out of them so that is why they were not able to pass out more. Thank you Theresa for the kiss at the finish of the TT, sorry I was so out of it that I could not respond.
So please if you haven’t seen it go to youtube and search Brad Huff Crash or go to steephill.tv and click on the stage 6 tour of MO final 1km and you shall see the fireworks. I will say that I am one of the luckiest guys out there, I am very happy that I remembered to say a pray on that last lap in STL. You know only 4 riders would be able to survive that kind of a Crash: ME, Meatball, Karl Menzies, and the largest engine in USA Tom Zirbel…..I miss Tom!
there are various sights that I would also say that one needs to brouse. Chad Hartley’s Missing saddle blog has a great break dancing expose of cycling, my Springfield friend Skippy@ cyclingskip.blogspot.com has some great clips of the core group cheering me on in the TT, Bud Hogan’s blog-Hogan knows best on my site-has some great pics
Well I just can’t remember anymore…..It was truly amazing to have that much support! Thank you all!
