Brad, does US cycling pay you anything for living expenses while you are training for the Oylmpics?? Maybe you could work a deal with a team where your track training and stuff won't got in the way of your committment to the team.
And I like Bilko's idea of going to the Celebrity Classic. I looked it up. Look's like a neat race!

Bilko, I was looking at the Big Shark packages. But, I'm being a good MO cycling fan, and voluneering for 3 stages. Spfld, Branson, and the start in Lebanon. Plus I have cycling-blog friends coming from Iowa part of the week, so I want to spend time with them. Anyway, I decided to treat myself to the VIP package for Sunday. But Big Shark had some cool stuff, and the Big Shark Bike Tour, sounded really GREAT!

Brian, I was chatting with you, and a bunch of other people on Sunday, during the Pro road race! I love your site, and the show you've put together!! I hope you can find someone to actually pay you for it! (I am "cat2bike")
And, I like your story about Bobby J, he's had his ups and downs.

I've got a lot to learn about where the races are, I guess I ought to start finding out were the races are that are close to home!

Huffy, I could tell you that for every door that closes a window opens or a kite rises highest against strong winds and stuff like that, but that is trite and pretty much vomit producing. Instead I will tell you that timing is everything and the Vaughters/Ellis machine is onto to things that just might not be right for you now. A fresh place could be the best thing for you. Be a big fish in a small pond and someday you could swim with the sharks, grasshopper. Now after the tour of misery go spend quality time in Milwaukee. Drink beer, eat fried fish and grow. Ciao.

Sponsorship in the U.S. seems to be pretty good right now but,

I remember in 1992. There was a major U.S. Team that signed a bunch of riders, then just before the season, they folded. Some found teams but Bobby Julich did not. He decided to pay out of his pocket from his savings to race through the year. He got great results. You can say he was motivated.

The rest is, as they say, History.

Needless to say, that was not a great year for me and Mike Sayers to turn pro.

Pay your own way and go to Celebrity Classic... I am sure Hector & crew will make it worth your effort. It'll be a good networking time.

I hear the event is going to be better than ever!!
