Cutting weight before the Revolution…

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

Friedman is back to his old wrestling days attempting to cut weight before the big Manchester Revolution.
Hopefully he made weight, because we all do not need to see this sweet sweat suit again.

One week and counting…

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

This time of the year is sot after like fine wine at the Frischkorn family gatherings, when one is able to find great enjoyment in eating what ever, doing nothing, and sacrificing his or her bicycle to the gods so that the year of torture and suffering can be freed in order to fully capture the bliss of not having to ride that damn thing.
I can not tell you how good it is to take time away from the retched monstrosity that shapes and distorts a cyclist view of each day and every day…..oh how can I fit that spin in, how am I going to get those intervals done, where is the best hill to do these on….blah blah bahumbug.
While other cyclist all over the world are able to hang up the cleats for an extended period, special cyclist that find themselves pulled towards the boards or cold hard packed dirt are just starting to spring in to action. Having this be the build up year for the Olympics brings a different amount of stress to ones quote “off season”.
The path towards the Olympics for me starts with a solid time resting so that I can start to gain back my mental tenacity towards chewing up the boards or miles in order to achieve every athletes dream in life….to compete in the Olympics.
Well only time and competitions will tell, but for right now F!@* the competitions.
Did anybody happen to see that “The Pate” had the leaders jersey down in Mexico for a day! That guy is amazing.

day 4 pulling the trigger only to hear nothing

Sunday, October 7th, 2007

The madison sucked, my legs were barely there, Friedman and I were both way off our game, my taint feels horrible…I know your pain girls, my mind has already taken a huge slug shot…shoot….shot….?…but somehow survived to write this lame blog. I was attempting to pull the trigger in the race and really go for it, but my legs had no gunpowder left in them, well actually they lost about all they had the morning of the Individual pursuit, so now I would rather take one to the head than attempt another f’ing day going in circles in LA. This season has been way too long and way to over looked by the power that be for me to continue in the normal eager to succeed Huff manner. I am going to run away for 2 weeks and hopefully do something productive, like…….guninmouth.jpg
Maybe just maybe some necessary Milwaukee love will help my jaded outlook…..or Van Halen “Right Now” yes!

day 3 Do track bikes have brakes?

Friday, October 5th, 2007

Because mine were on the whole time I was out there in the qualifying round. Needless to say I did not qualify for the final tonight. So my day 3 was over in less than 60 laps. Man that makes a guy feel extra spunky let me tell you. Actually it fucking cracks me when this shit happens. Ya there is always the excuse one can say, but I have seriously felt like shit over the past few weeks. Living the dream we say?
You know when you are having a great time when you almost wish some idiot would just give you an excuse on your ride of shame back to the sweet hotel. The pull a CaleMac on the typical American rushing to the red light ahead.
Well I have one more day of TRACK TRACK TRACK Nationals, hopefully my E-Brake will be removed off my legs and I might be able to redeem myself???
Doubtful Rube Doubtful.
by the way MIKE FRIEDMAN WON because he is a bad ass and because MIKE CREED killed everyone with mind bullets…and his legs to take Friedman to victory.

day 2 Track track track….PAINFUL

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

talk about chamois time. I mean we chamois’d up at about 10 AM then were able to slide out of them at 8 PM….sweet, let me tell you. This track stuff totally just cracks me so much. I mean we had so much time wasted today that I would have much preferred to head back to the hotel to sleep, but we were not fully able to decipher the long schedule of the day. I will say that the energy levels just seem to sink lower and lower with the long track hours.
So I rode a PR for today in the Individual Pursuit, but the Phenom Taylor Phinney, also know as “all twitch” thanks to the superb genetic make up of his DNA that totally dwarfs any mer-mortal cyclist around (Father Davis Phinney Mother Connie Carpenter) totally whipped the floor with me. I am very excited for Taylor as he has so much cycling/life success ahead of him, the amazing thing is that I think that he does not actually know he is doing it, but he for sure is! TO be honest my money was on Dan Harm (Rubicon/Chinook) as the dark horse of the day, but he went out a little too hard in the qualifier and paid for it in the end. It has been a long time since the Individual pursuit has had such a depth of competition, we had 4 rides break the 4min 40sec barrier and several others that were so close. I am very excited to see the amount of competition increase at such a rapid rate since I have been involved in the track racing scene. Since 2004 the level of riders has only grown. Hopefully I am able to continue to develop along with the movement of the track scene.
By the way Connie and Davis Phinney are the nicest couple in cycling that I have meet in a long time….
2 days down 2 left.
By the way Team Slipstream has theoretically swept both USPRO and Elite timed events this year! Individual Pursuit and Time Trail…..well if you count David Zabriskie (as he signed with Team SlipStream for 08).
