Cycling doesn’t suck….it might hurt, but it doesn’t suck!

although sometimes it feels as if the walls are falling in and there is no where to go my down. Well I am not running away even if I get my ass handed to me every day….I will have my day. I will prove my worth and I will show those doubters that they were wrong to judge……..stuck up bastard’s. Cycling is a beautiful sport that any age is able to enjoy, but only the elite of elite are able to actually survive doing (financially). We others are determine to scrap by and sustain verbal scrutiny while attempting to prove that we are worth every single drop of sweat that is put in to us…..meaning every single damn cyclist out there that has a dream and has not chosen to follow the path of least resistance, but more so have chosen to take cycling head on and attempt the unachievable. I cannot quote it any better than my past exercise physiology teacher….”Brad, I do not know how you are doing what you are doing…..because according to these test’s you should not even be any were close to where you are!” well you know what, it is all about heart and I know a few cyclist out there that have been kicked out on their can or have been given an extended chance that are about to turn the cycling world upside down.
I feel blessed for what I have been able to do in cycling, but more so I feel blessed to have experienced and learned from some of the best and most honest cyclist in the world. NOT FUCKING this super star or that or ??? or the biggest hope, but more so blue collar cyclist who sacrifice everyday life, lifestyles, dreams, hopes, relationships, and tomorrow for the hope to make it, the hope that there efforts are not in vain. you know what fuck all you fuckers who are out their taking the short route in life…..ie cycling and life, moving through the field like it is hot butter. I would rather get dropped and know that I did everything in my effort to make it just this far.
I am not afraid to race pure and attempt to prove all the doubters wrong by my own GOD given power…if not just once in the hundred times I attempt it, because that is the beauty of sport, the underdogs will have their day.
Thank you Lord for providing me with this insanity to think that I am actually capable
I believe, as do many of my fellow teammates of the past, present, and future. We will all succeed in cycling and life more so that even imaginable. I might suck, but I am at least going for it…..

Intense! Dude you were the 2006 crit champ. You just had an off year. It happens to everyone at some point. You were training for track not road in the most important part of the 2006 season.(Remember 3rd @ Worlds)
I know it is not my career but I overtrained my May and then struck with prostate infection in July. Talk about a bad season. I ended the season fat and horrible results.
Relax and go get an enema. It always works for me.

  2. Brackett Says:

You bet your ass! F’ em, Finish strong baby!

  3. Cameron Says:

    Amen brother, amen.

  4. Theresa Says:

I’m so proud of you!! And this is one of the reasons I’m one of your cheerleaders! No matter where you end up, you do it with passion. You are gifted, Brad. Or you wouldn’t have accomplished what you have already have.

  5. Darkhorse Says:

WOW! I hope you feel better,i do. That sounds like my foul mouth. Now get your ass back in the saddle & prove those fuckers wrong. GIDDYUP!

  6. bilko Says:

There goes the g-rating on this thing… and you didn’t even flash the photos of squats…

There is an emotional let down as the season changes and you slow down a little while transitioning to your winter track legs… get some sun down under or hook a trip up to Mar del Plata again… the soon-to-be summer sun will do you good on the beach. Or come to Burnaby for the bubble.

  7. Steve Wingate Says:

God muther-freaking bless you, man! The US track team needs 5-6 more like you.

  8. a supporter Says:

Brad, good on you! Not only a very inspiring post but also a very welcomed one to see that you’ve still got that fire and direction. Ride well next year and enjoy yourself. You have many folks whom you’ve never met reading your blog and enjoying every moment of it!

  9. Hip Says:

Get over yourself and just ride.

  10. Bolivar Says:

Huff, You said it man! All of it rings true, you sound like Pre. Here some more fuel for the fire from Steve Prefontaine - # “A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more. Nobody is going to win a 5,000 meter race after running an easy 2 miles. Not with me. If I lose forcing the pace all the way, well, at least I can live with myself.”

  11. Jackel Joe B. Says:

Yeah Brad, just go out there and “KICK MAXIMUM ASS!” as Ted Nugent would say. You’re already a winner.

Sometimes I like riding with a jackel grin as it demoralizes the competition. But I ride with the Jackel grin anyway sometimes just because I’m happy.

  12. MR T Says:

    Quit yo jibba jabba

  13. usada's best Says:

I’ve always wondered…”how much can those track races hurt, anyway?” You don’t even get dirty out there!

  16. joel Says:

Brad… you know there are no straight lines in life… there are always turns, always climbs… you know this… we have all seen you out smart the field…. many times… remember 2006.. no matter what happens you have a pure heart and work ethic…. supporters all over the country… and have done things most people can only dream of… stay true, be safe, go fast… the only thing that matters is that you try…. hpoe to see you in L.A.
